Mesh, The TV Producer in Prague

Almost two decades ago TV Producer and Photographer Mesh went on a trip to Budapest and Prague. Little did he know just how much this trip would shape his future. Prague left an impression on him that no other city had before. He returned back to Europe’s Golden City again and again. As his trips became longer and more frequent, in 2000 the pull of Prague proved to be too strong and he decided to make the move permanent and hasn’t looked back since.

Living in a fairytale

“From the first moment I arrived, I felt like I was home”

Mesh loves to travel and has made his way to 59 countries all around the world. But there was something about Prague that was different. From his first visit Mesh felt at home even though he was in a brand new city. Maybe it was Prague’s small-town feeling. Maybe it was the fact that everything was within walking distance. Or maybe it was the cosmopolitan vibe. Whatever it was, for Mesh he was home.

Over the three years that followed Mesh’s first visit, he went to Prague as often as he could. You could even say that he lived their part-time as each visit became longer and longer. Then on the turn of the new millennium, Mesh decided it was time to make the move to Prague permanent. And he has lived right here in this fairytale-like city ever since.

“Prague may be the biggest city in the Czech Republic, but I feel like I am living in a small old town and that I am part of a fairytale”

Living like a local

“I can’t leave the city without saying goodbye to the Old Square. It reminds me of a Walt Disney movie.

Once Mesh began living in Prague permanently he set up home in what was to become his favorite neighborhood in the city, Vinohrady. On top of the hill behind the National Museum, in Vinohrady Mesh is near to the city center, but enjoys the quieter atmosphere.

Another reason why Vinohrady is Mesh’s favorite spot in the city is its international vibe. The area is so cosmopolitan that even Mesh with his self-proclaimed “bad Czech” has no problems getting around. You also won’t find many chain stores here, with locally-run shops, restaurants, and cafes, this leafy neighborhood truly marches to the beat of its own drum.

Mesh also loves the fairytale vibe of Prague’s Old Town Square. In the days when he was still visiting the city, he couldn’t leave until he had made a special trip to the square to say goodbye. Even to this day whenever Mesh walks over the square’s cobblestones and takes in the historic buildings, he feels like he is in a movie.
